I generally start all painting with a small drawing. But two exercises that I have included in my website are drawings that I found especially rewarding and felt they should remain as a primary work.
Elwood
“Elwood” is drawn with charcoal on white mat board. Elwood was a friend’s black Labrador with an exceptionally funny personality.
Daddy Wayne
“Daddy Wayne” is a neighbor and longtime influence on mine and my siblings lives. From this drawing which was done is one setting I learned that knowing someone for most of my life brought ease of movement along the page as I drew his image. He was a great lover of the river, and I captured him in his happy place at the helm of his boat “Lazybones”.
